Reprinted from the Monthly Notices of the Meteor. Society of Mauritius. Non-Official, No.7. - Author was Director of the Government Observatory Mauritius. His treatise refers mainly to two cyclones of 1860 and 1863 and their aftermaths to navigation. Seems to be still an early scientific paper on this dangerous natural phenomenon, - "of so much practical importance to navigators" (Preface).
