First edition / Erste Ausgabe. - Richly illustrated work on history of naval architecture by the master shipbuilder of The Royal Navy at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. Fincham is also the author of `An outline of Ship-Building`, `A Treatise on Masting Ships` and `Directions for Laying Off Ships`. - Binding minimally rubbed, front papers renewed, edges, first und last pages with some foxing, book-plate, else a fine copy in a decorative hand binding.
