The signed and dated Ardabils, of masterful design and impeccable workmanship, are clear proof of the genius of early Safavid carpet artistry. No study of them can be limited to their description, but must also make it possible to understand them in the context of Persian history, including that of the Shrine at Ardabil (page 8). - Upper corners minimally squeezed, else a fine copy.
